The Mortal Kombat movie arrives on TV and also in streaming. It will be a cinematic adventure totally inspired by the famous video game saga, to the delight of the many fans and gamers seeded around the world. The film, directed by Simon McQuoid, will also arrive in Italy in premiere on Sky Cinema and streaming on NOW.

The film will focus on the fights to the death between the main characters of the video game. In particular, the MMA champion Cole Young and Sub-Zero will face each other. Those who know the Mortal Kombat universe will not struggle to catch the quotes, recognize the characters and all the references to the saga. But an important weight will be given to the story, the plot is in fact articulated, perfect for those who have never played. The bet was to create a film with obvious references to the video game but capable, at the same time, to conquer a new audience, especially fans of action films.

Mortal Kombat: the plot

The plot of the Mortal Kombat movie will feature the MMA champion Cole Young, who has always fought for money and is unaware of his heritage, but above all of why the arch-ruler of the Outworld, Shang Tsung, is hunting him. His hunter, however, is very strong, he is Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer warrior.

Cole to clash with his enemy decides to prepare himself together with Sonya Blade, who is under the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who also bears on his skin the same dragon mark that Cole was born with. Together they are protected in the temple of Lord Raiden, where they begin training with a number of strong warriors, such as Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Kano. Cole dovrà riuscire a scatenare il suo arcana, cioè il potere che custodisce nell’anima per salvare la sua famiglia e fermare Sub-Zero.

Mortal Kombat: il cast

Nel cast troviamo atleti del mondo delle arti marziali, ma anche attori molto conosciuti.

Lewis Tan (Deadpool 2, "Wu Assassins) interpreta Cole Young; Jessica McNamee (The Meg) sarà invece Sonya Blade; mentre vedremo Josh Lawson (Bombshell) nei panni di Kano.

The film is directed by award-winning Australian director Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring films, Aquaman), Todd Garner (Into the Storm, Tag), McQuoid and E. Bennett Walsh (Men in Black: International, The Amazing Spider-Man 2).
