The Chinese company Oppo has launched the Find X the first smartphone with retractable front and rear cameras, here's how it works
If the first part of 2018 was characterized by smartphones with notch, the second could be dedicated to "full-screen" smartphones, without notches nor front cameras to steal space. This, at least, would seem to be the latest trend of the moment, launched by the Chinese Vivo and ridden by the compatriots of Oppo.
During an event held in Paris, in fact, was presented the Oppo Find X, futuristic device that could show how could be the top of the range smartphones from next year. Compared to the Vivo Nex S, the Oppo Find X presents a retractable system for both the front and rear camera: in this way lenses and sensors will always be protected, although there are doubts about the strength of the mechanism that activates the cameras. Beyond these "subtleties", the Oppo Find X stands as a candidate to be one of the best smartphones of 2018, both in terms of design and technical features.
Technical data sheet Oppo Find X
On the technical specifications front, the novelties introduced by the Chinese manufacturer are very limited. The Oppo Find X, in fact, has the same technical specifications as other top of the range devices released in recent months, OnePlus 6 and Vivo Nex S in head. Inside the shell we find Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The Oppo FInd X has a 3,750mAh battery with VOOC fast charging system, quite similar to the Dash Charge used by OnePlus. As for the operating system Find X runs with Android 8.1 Oreo customized with Oppo's Color variant. The most interesting aspect of the technical features, however, is the screen, a 6.4-inch OLED display without a notch that covers more than 90% of the front surface of the device. A real unicuum in the industry, probably destined to be imitated in the months to come.
Oppo Find X photo compartment
Oppo Find X is the first smartphone that has both a rear and a front retractable camera. The front sensor is a 25-megapixel with various features for selfie and portrait mode, while next to it we find the 3D facial recognition sensor. The dual rear camera, also retractable, consists of a 20-megapixel main sensor supported by a 16-megapixel secondary sensor. The camera housing takes about 0.5 seconds to open and close. How do we open facial recognition if the phone has no camera in sight? Simple, on the lock screen just swipe up to bring out the camera compartment from its housing, while to take pictures with the rear cameras just launch the camera app.
Price and release Oppo Find X
Oppo Find X will be the first smartphone officially resold by Oppo in Italy. Until now, in fact, the Chinese company had focused exclusively on the Asian market, arriving in Europe and the United States thanks to third-party retailers. The price on the Asian market is not too high but in Italy the device will cost 999 euros. A figure that puts it in direct competition with Apple and Samsung, not easy opponents for the Oppo phone.
