According to a research, Italy is the Western European country where you pay less to call, send SMS and surf the Internet with your smartphone
In Italy to call, send SMS and surf the Internet you pay less than in other European countries. This is said by the research "EU Mobile benchmark", carried out by Telecompaper and which took as reference the first three months of 2019. The study analyzed as many as 1433 tariff offers from 71 operators present in 16 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom,Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Two types of offers were taken into consideration: subscriptions that include calls, SMS and Internet data and those that also offer the purchase of a smartphone in installments. For simplicity, the study took the purchase of a Galaxy S8 as an example. The most interesting aspect of the research concerns the costs of subscriptions in Italy: with the advent of Iliad, all telephone operators have been forced to reduce the cost of offers and so the Bel Paese has become the country in Western Europe where calling and calling costs less.
The Italian mobile phone offers are the least expensive in Europe
We can speak without being contradicted of a real "Iliad effect" on the Italian phone market. Since the fourth telephone operator made its debut, rates and the cost of subscriptions have fallen. Competitors have been forced to adjust their offers by increasing the number of gigs available and in many cases lowering the cost of the monthly subscription. Now it is quite normal to find "all inclusive" rates with 60GB of traffic for less than 10 euros per month.
This lowering of costs, however, has led to a decrease in revenues of telephone operators, which sooner or later will be forced to increase rates in order to continue to offer the same service. It is no coincidence that in recent months, more and more companies are offering their users a "fixed line + mobile line" package to build customer loyalty and sell premium services.
The ranking of European countries where calling costs the most
According to the research "EU Mobile benchmark", Italy has both the cheapest offer ever and the lowest average of all available rates. In second position we find Denmark, where it is possible to buy a subscription with 60GB of Internet traffic included for 10 euros per month. This is followed by France, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
In the last position is Greece, which has both the most expensive offers on average and overall.
Finally, the study gives an overview with the average prices for a monthly subscription with 1000 minutes and 10GB. In Europe you pay on average 29 euros per month, while in Italy the average cost is 15 euros. But as you will know, it is possible to find much more advantageous offers.
