Stranger Things fourth season frozen, Covid-19 halted filming: when will we see the trailer or know release and plot? Here's what the rumors say
Stranger Things 4 is among the most anticipated Netflix TV series, but also the one about which there are the greatest uncertainties. In fact, due to the anti-county measures from Covid-19 the filming of the new episodes are blocked and fans are wondering, not only when they will be able to see the season, but if this stalemate will affect the plot, the trailer and the release.
After all, the story evolves along with its characters: Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and all the others. We met them as children and then, episode after episode, they grew up to face the Demogorgon and the other frightening dangers coming from the underworld. Now the actors continue to grow and change but they do it away from the screens. Will this fact have consequences on the story? It's not out of the question, especially if it doesn't pick up anytime soon. Let's try to figure out when the filming of the fourth season could start based on the various rumors spread recently.
Stranger Things 4: when will filming begin?
Originally, the filming of Stranger Things 4 was supposed to start in January and end in August 2020. The Covid-19 health crisis pushed back the first takes of one of Netflix's most successful series. Since then, rumors about the fourth season's release have been circulating the web. There was even talk of a year-long wait before filming could resume. Fortunately, the details and some of the filming are defined: the sets and the locations have already been confirmed, so the real scenes are missing, that is, those involving director, actors and other professionals who are often behind the scenes.
There is another element to take into account, which makes it even more difficult to continue filming: the cast and all the professionals involved in the work must move from one country to another. In fact, Stranger Things 4 is set both in Atlanta and in Lithuania, where there are scenes inside the Museum of Genocide Victims in Vilnius. In short, travel complicates the continuation of work. Even the actors, who are particularly fond of the series, have made some assumptions about it.
When will Stranger Things 4 resume: word from the actors
In recent months, a curiosity has been spread: the actors of Stranger Things read the script only a few days before shooting, if not the day itself. To reveal it was Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the series. In an interview he admitted that he hasn't read the script yet and doesn't know when he can have it in his hands. In fact, the Duffer brothers, who are the creators and screenwriters, do not allow the actors to know the script well in advance, perhaps for fear of possible spoilers or for the need to change the texts in progress without too many problems. The fact is that the actors, not only do not yet know when they will finish filming, but also how the plot will evolve.
Gaten Matarazzo, who is Dustin in the series, said at GalaxyCon that he will return to the set when he is 18 years old. This statement suggests that filming will take place in late 2020 or 2021 at the latest. The actor himself said that filming was halted shortly after it began and that initially the stop was supposed to be two weeks, but it soon became clear that the timeframe would be lengthened. Currently, filming has been halted for three months and there is no word on when it will resume.
Netflix is also silent: the video streaming platform has not released any news on the matter. So to date there is only one certainty: Stranger Things 4 will come, but we still do not know when or how.
When Stranger Things 4 comes out
With all these doubts about when filming will resume, it is also complicated to make assumptions about the release date of Stranger Things 4. Impossible that it will be released by the end of this year: the most likely guess is in the second quarter of 2021.
