The offer of streaming content available in Italy is enriched with a new international platform focused on TV shows, talent and sports.
While the digital terrestrial enters the heart of the switch off towards the DVB-T2 standard, with a tight schedule in 2021, streaming does not stand idly by and confirms itself as the real alternative technology to traditional TV. Also in Italy, for this reason, a new platform of on-demand content with TV shows and sports of the highest level is about to arrive.
To challenge Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ on smartphones, tablets, PCs and smart TVs will be, from January 4, Discovery+. The new service of the Discovery network will replace and enrich the current DPlus offer. The main difference between DPlus and Discovery Plus will be the sport because the new online platform will also broadcast the Eurosport channels, then also all the Olympics until those of 2034. There will also be exclusive content under the Discovery+ Originals brand. In short, the American group Discovery has decided, albeit later than its competitors, to throw itself headlong into the streaming market.
Discovery+: what it broadcasts
The Discovery+ platform will have a very complete offer, including in a single subscription the channels Real Time, Nove, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, DMAX, Giallo, Home&Garden TV, Indestigation Discovery, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Motor Trend, Discovery Science, Animal Planet, BBC Planet Earth, KZ, Frisbee.
The programming will therefore be focused, in addition to sport in the round, on documentaries and "real life" content and talent shows in which Discovery has always been a leader. There will also be a section dedicated to podcasts, with important series such as Fratelli di Crozza and L'Assedio by Daria Bignardi.
Discovery+ when it starts and how much it costs
It is possible to activate the Discovery+ offer now, but the platform will be operational in 25 countries around the world, including Italy, from January 4.
Discovery+ costs €3.99 a month, with the first week's free trial, or €39.99 a year. Discovery+ together with the Eurosport package costs €7.99 per month, or €69.99 per year.
