Sparite dal conteggio di molti utenti anche centinaia di transazioni, inviati migliaia di messaggi di avvertimento: finalmente si stringe sui furbetti del Cashback, ma forse è troppo tardi.

Dopo mesi di polemiche sui cosiddetti furbetti del Cashback che fanno decine di microtransazioni al giorno per scalare la classifica del Super Cashback e ottenere il super premio semestrale da 1.500 euro, riservato ai 100 mila iscritti che a fine giugno avranno fatto più acquisti con pagamento elettronico, ora arriva la stangata: da ieri molti utenti hanno visto scendere le transazioni all’interno dell’app IO.
Alcuni utenti si sono visti decurtare dall’elenco anche 200 transazioni in un colpo solo, ma nell’app IO non è possibile vedere quali sono le transazioni eliminate, si vedono solo quelle rimaste. Di contro, però, gli stessi utenti hanno ricevuto un messaggio all’interno dell’app: “Ciao! We are checking some anomalous transactions detected within the Cashback: they are recurring transactions of insignificant amount, made in large numbers at the same merchant, on the same day and therefore do not appear to qualify as "purchases" of goods or services, according to the program. For several hours, on online forums and Facebook groups, there has been much discussion about whether this was fake news.
Cancelled Transactions: Confirmation
Many of the users who have had their microtransactions cut off have all received and posted the same message. Alcuni hanno gridato al fake, visto che moltissimi degli screenshot condivisi sui social e sui forum riportavano lo stesso orario.
In realtà questo non dovrebbe stupire più di tanto, visto che lo stesso messaggio è stato inviato a migliaia di persone in modo automatizzato, quindi è logico che ci siano migliaia di messaggi tutti con lo stesso orario. Gira anche un video in cui un utente mostra in tempo reale, navigando sul suo smartphone, il messaggio ricevuto.
Come se non bastasse, però, Libero Tecnologia ha ricevuto una ulteriore conferma da un utente che ha chiesto tramite l’help online ufficiale se era vero che IO stava cancellando transazioni e inviando messaggi a migliaia di persone. Tale utente, all’interno di IO, ha ricevuto questa risposta: “Ciao, dovresti aver ricevuto un messaggio dall’app IO che ti invita a fornire dettagli circa la validità di queste transazioni, ai sensi del Programma. Ti preghiamo di attenerti alle indicazioni contenute nel messaggio“.
IO, quindi, conferma che si sta procedendo alla cancellazione di alcune transazioni e all’invio massiccio di messaggi agli utenti interessati e invita a seguire, eventualmente, la procedura per fare reclamo e “riavere le transazioni“. Una procedura, però, impossibile da seguire.
Super Cashback: perché le transazioni non torneranno
La procedura in questione prevede la compilazione di un modulo per ogni transazione cancellata. Vanno inseriti, oltre ai propri dati personali, quelli relativi all’acquisto compresi data, tipo di bene acquistato, importo, ID transazione Issuer. Tutti dati che possono essere recuperati, ad esempio, dallo scontrino d’acquisto.
Ma ciò vorrebbe dire aver conservato tutti gli scontrini di tutte le centinaia di acquisti e cercare tra di essi quelli relativi agli acquisti contestati. Purchases that, however, should be searched by exclusion since they are not listed in the IO app.
Super Cashback: what changes now
On March 1, 2021, we wrote that the only possible answer to the Cashback fraudsters would be an algorithm that, applied to millions of transactions already processed, would skim the suspicious ones. At almost exactly 3 months we can say that we were right, this is exactly what happened.
What we must add, however, is that it is probably too late: the user who is now in position 100 thousand has made 463 transactions, those who are among the first places have made over a thousand. Even if we take away half of them, then, he would remain among the winners of the prize of 1,500 euros.
And it is very difficult that, 33 days after the end of the first period of Cashback, we can process the huge amount of information on purchases accumulated in the previous 5 months. The most likely thing, therefore, is that the reversal of these transactions is only a deterrent for the smart ones so that in the next period that begins on (July 1) avoid microtransactions. Or, to be optimistic, it is also possible that the platform is testing the algorithm with a view to its real application in the next semester.
