Xiaomi is ready to launch the Mi Mix Alpha, a new smartphone with super-curved screen and 100 Megapixel rear camera.
We are just a few hours away from the presentation, scheduled for tomorrow, of the two new top-of-the-line smartphones from Xiaomi: the Mi 9 Pro 5G and the Mi MIX Alpha. On the latter have come out rumors in recent days that suggest very interesting technical features.
According to the latest leaks (some of which are almost official) the Mi MIX Alpha could revolutionize the current landscape by introducing the concept of "waterfall" screen, ie very curved on the sides. The main camera, however, should have a sensor of 100 megapixels and allow enlargements up to 8X without losing the slightest detail. That for selfies, moreover, could be incorporated into the screen. Finally, Xiaomi lets it be known that the Mi MIX Alpha will be built with refined and innovative materials.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha: innovative display
Let's start with the display of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. According to a leaked slide from a meeting that was reportedly held at the company's headquarters in China, the screen will be fully wraparound. Even more than the screen of the new Huawei Mate 30 Pro, just presented by the Chinese competitor. According to journalist Ice Universe it would be a "super-curved" screen, the next stage after the "waterfall display" seen on the Mate 30 Pro and the penultimate in the scale that starts from the classic flat screen and ends at the "surround" screen. From what we see in the slide already mentioned, moreover, this screen could also incorporate the front camera. Xiaomi itself has piqued the curiosity of its fans by posting an image in which it asks, "In the era of 5G, which direction should we take?". Notch? Dot Drop? Pop-up? Or...?"
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha: 100 MP camera
If the front camera could have the feature of being hidden under the display, the rear one will certainly have (by Xiaomi's admission, via special video) the most powerful sensor currently on the market: 100 MP, most likely the ISOCELL Bright HMX made together with Samsung.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha: innovative premium materials
Finally, a last teaser from Xiaomi hints that the materials with which the Mi MIX Alpha will be built will be definitely "premium": titanium, silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide (i.e. sapphire). Titanium should be used for the body frame, silicon dioxide could be used to make the ceramic back, while sapphire could be used for the camera glass.
