Inserted within users' personal page, it's used to get more information about people. That's what the "Did you know?"
A new feature has appeared on Facebook and no one is quite sure what it's for. It's "Did you know?", a section within each user's personal account, below the box with shared friendships (you can access it from both mobile and desktop).
The caption accompanying the feature reads "Answer a question to help people get to know you." This is a feature designed to capture new information about users' habits and passions and to give them the ability to personalize their account by making it unique. The answers that will be given to the questions posed by Facebook, will be shared on your account using colored backgrounds, another novelty introduced on the social network this year. Here's what "Did you know?", Facebook's new feature, is and what it's for.
What is and how does "Did you know?"
"Did you know?" is a new section of Facebook, introduced to collect information about users. The functioning of "Did you know?" is quite simple: pressing or clicking on the section will appear some questions that the user will have to answer. The questions are of the type "The last book I read without skipping pages is...", "If I could choose between being a fantastic painter or a brilliant mathematician, I would prefer to be...", "A food I could never eat...". The answers given by users will be shared on the personal account.
The feature is present on both desktop and mobile and users will be able to use it on both devices. On the computer, it is present within the personal account in the left column under the section where friends are shown. On the smartphone it has the same location as well. To find it you have to enter inside your personal account and scroll down until you come across the "Did you know?" section.
What is the "Did you know?" section for?"
Facebook launched the new feature without explaining why. Besides the fact that it doesn't bring much improvement to the functioning of the social network, it was placed in a rather awkward position. Almost as if to hide it. So it could still be in the testing phase and in case the results are not what we hoped for, it could also be eliminated. The purpose of the function is still unknown, for the moment you can only make assumptions. It could be a way for Facebook to collect more information about users, in order to improve profiling and show advertisements more in line with the passions of users.
