The plot of Maradona: Sogno Benedetto traces the life of the Pibe de Oro, starting from his childhood in Villa Fiorito in Argentina. There, his talent in soccer will be noticed, until it will take him first to Barcelona, in Spain, and then to Naples, in Italy. Episode after episode, we reconstruct the stages of the evolution of this football champion, who will also have a crucial role in the Argentine national team to win the World Cup in Mexico in 1986.

To play Maradona in the different stages of his life, from childhood to adulthood, the actors Nazareno Casero, Juan Palomino and Nicolas Goldschmidt have been chosen. The cast also includes Julieta Cardinali (En Terapia, Valentin), Laura Esquivel (Patito Feo), Mercedes Morán (The Motorcycle Diaries, El Reino), Pepe Monje (Amor en Custodia) and Peter Lanzani (El Clan, El Reino).
The biographical series on the soccer legend is produced by BTF Media, in co-production with Dhana Media and Latin We. Filming took place in Argentina, Spain, Italy, Uruguay and Mexico. The showrunner and director of the episodes shot in Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay is Alejandro Aimetta, while Roger Gual and Edoardo De Angelis directed the episodes set in Spain and Italy, respectively.
