IOS 14 revolutionizes everything: here’s how the iPhone changes

IOS 14 could bring big changes in the iPhone user interface. Here are all the most interesting new features

This is an important period for fans of the Apple world: on the one hand, information about the new iPhone increases, on the other hand, several rumors about iOS 14 pop up. According to some sources, the Cupertino company is working on an operating system characterized by never seen functions and a completely renewed graphic look.

The preview will probably be presented during the WWDC 2020, which this year will be held in June in streaming: the company after 31 years has changed the format to adapt to the health emergency that is involving the whole world. At the beginning of the summer then we will know what will be the content and changes developed on iOS 14. There is talk of a completely changed user experience to meet the needs related to everyday life, although Apple has admitted that it wants to introduce the new features in small steps to not destabilize too much its users. It will start with a new look that will affect mainly the applications. For the moment these are just rumors and mockups based on rumors, so nothing official.

How will the new iOS 14 look like?

The first change will disrupt the way apps are displayed on the Home screen. Currently, the iPhone operating system allows you to view installed apps by scrolling through the Home screens. Alternatively, you can use the Spotlight feature to find the app you want. With iOS 14, apps will appear on the display in alphabetical order, but there will be an option to reorder them according to your taste or sort them by folders. For example, you can edit the list by putting your most used apps at the top.

This way, you won't need to remember the app's position within the screen. Also, the system will show you the apps that have a notification at the top. What's more, personalized suggestions based on the most-used or recently opened apps could appear in the search.

Fitness app: what will change?

Those who use the system to work out will immediately notice an important change: the Fitness app will become independent and can also be used on watchOS 7 and tvOS: this will make it resemble the Activity app that already allows you to monitor the user's movements on iPhone, iWatch and other branded devices.

According to various rumors, Apple will release free videos along with the Fitness app: they will probably be tutorials with exercises to do at home or outdoors, designed for those who practice running, rowing, core training, stretching and even dance and yoga. The tutorials will be able to be followed on iPhones, iPads, smart TVs or other devices.

Messages on iOS 14: how will we see them?

The third major change concerns the fruition of messages on both iOS 14 and macOS 10.16. You will be able to mention users by inserting the @ symbol before their name, a solution already used in many messaging apps like Slack, Cliq or WhatsApp. It will also be possible to mute messages or receive notifications only when you are directly mentioned in the application. Finally, an audible alert for sender and recipient will be introduced whenever a message is deleted.

These are just some of the new features that could affect iOS 14, but you'll have to wait at least until June to find out the official features presented by Apple.
