The iPhone 12 will have a design similar to the iPhone 4 with non-rounded edges and a very large screen. Here's how the new Apple smartphone
The rumors that the iPhone 12 will look a lot like the iPhone 4 are confirmed in a leak, whose reliability is still to be verified, from the Twitter account JinStore. It is the account of a user who calls himself "premium Apple reseller", "Dev-Fused device supplier" (Dev-Fused devices are pre-production prototypes), "Apple Security Researcher" and much more.
JinStore has published some photos of printed models of the iPhone 12 and renderings made with a CAD software. They would appear, from the looks of it, to be the models that are distributed to cover companies to serve as the basis for the molds from which cases will then be made. In the past, other models of this type, even of other manufacturers, have ended up at the center of numerous leaks that sometimes turned out to be right. In this case, however, the source is certainly not the most authoritative. But, if we want to take it for good, then it is true that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will be very similar in design to the iPhone 4, considered by many the iPhone with the best design ever.
iPhone 12: what it looks like
Looking at the photos published by JinStore, which would cover the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 (which should be the basic iPhone 12), 6.1-inch (which should be the iPhone 12 Pro) and 6.7-inch (which should be the iPhone 12 Pro Max), the similarity with the iPhone 4 is obvious. To the heavily rounded bezel edges and thick metal side shell typical of the iPhone 4, Apple would have added a large, traditional-style notch. The microphone holes and Lightning port can be seen at the bottom of the case, while the power and volume buttons protrude from the side. Also protruding is the bumper that houses the rear cameras, which are four.
Was Ming-Chi Kuo right?
Ming-Chi Kuo is a famous name among those who love to follow leaks on upcoming smartphones: he is considered one of the most reliable sources on the Apple world, as he is a financial analyst with excellent connections in the chain of Chinese suppliers of the Cupertino company. If everyone believes that the iPhone 12 will be similar to the iPhone 4, it is precisely because Ming-Chi Kuo, back in September 2019 (when people were still commenting on the just released iPhone 11), revealed that the 2020 iPhone would have a completely different design from the previous one and very similar to that of the iPhone 4. However, Kuo, again, had later claimed that that kind of design gave some problems to the 5G antenna.
