The Chinese top of the range is preparing to arrive on the market. The official presentation there will be on May 28, but the data sheet has already been unveiled
Their launch is just under a week away but, as is increasingly the case, we now know virtually everything, or almost, about their features. With the latest series of leaks leaked in the last few hours, in fact, we were able to discover the remaining details of the K20 and K20 Pro, the top of the range that Redmi (subsidiary of Xiaomi) should present next May 28.
How are the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro? From the rumors (now almost certain) these are two high-end smartphones, with technical features comparable with those of the OnePlus 7 Pro, Galaxy S10 Plus or Huawei P30 Pro, but with a much lower list price. In this way, the low-cost brand of Xiaomi tries to quickly conquer a substantial slice of the market at the expense of brands perhaps better known, but with a lower quality / price ratio. A business strategy already implemented by Huawei with Honor and that now Xiaomi tries to replicate, perhaps taking advantage of the legal trouble that in recent days has hit the main Chinese manufacturer (see the case Huawei-Android and everything that has resulted).
How will the Redmi K20: official specifications
As mentioned, the last round of rumors have served to reveal the latest details of the next top of the Chinese range. Merit, if we can say so, of an image leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo, and depicting the front of the device, and another officially released by the Asian manufacturer, and concerning the rear of the K20.
Thanks to the first we know that the low cost smartphone, but with high-end technical features, will have a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with fingerprint sensor under the screen of the latest generation. The camera that takes care of scanning the screen will have pixels of minimal size (7.2 microns), so as to improve recognition and make unlocking even faster. The display, moreover, will not present any interruption: there are no notches, no water drops and no holes, since the 20-megapixel front camera will be "incorporated" inside a removable motorized cart.
The second image, instead, gives us some more details about the rear part of the Redmi K20 and, therefore, of its photographic system. The K20, just like the Xiaomi Mi 9, will have a triple rear camera, with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 main sensor accompanied by a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor and an 8-megapixel telezoom lens.
The Redmi K20's spec sheet is completed by the Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6 or 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage memory. Powering everything is a 4,000 mAh battery.
How much does the Redmi K20 cost and when is it coming out
On the price of the Redmi K20 we don't have much information yet. Probable to assume a list price below 400 euros but, according to the very first rumors, its Chinese price should be even lower (perhaps under 300 euros). For the release date, however, you can assume the second half of June or the first of July. As mentioned, in fact, the device will be presented next May 28 and could arrive in Europe within a couple of weeks.
