The Amazon Prime Day 2020 was supposed to take place in July, but the coronavirus has caused the event to slip around the world: here's when it will be held
The Amazon Prime Day 2020 could be very close. After the postponement from July 2020 to a date to be determined due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event that offers special deals for users enrolled in Amazon Prime could to return as early as the first half of October, perhaps as early as the 5th.
Since 2015, Amazon has launched Prime Day, a 36-hour event in which subscribers to the service have exclusive access to a range of products at more than discounted prices. It is an event where you can get great deals and in the 2019 edition saw 175 million items sold in just two days, between July 15 and 16. The emergency Covid-19 has dictated the postponement and the most likely date for Amazon Prime Day 2020 could be just next October 5. A date that has not yet been officially confirmed, but it would avoid the overlap with the Black Friday sales, scheduled for the last week of November.
Amazon Prime Day 2020, when will it be
Having missed the appointment of July, many continue to wonder when Amazon Prime Day 2020 will arrive in Italy. Many hoped in the first days of August, along with the event of the 5 and 6 which, however, affected only members in India. Those who hoped that Prime Day could arrive in September, will be disappointed this time too, because Amazon has not yet made any announcement for this month.
There are two reasons, however, that make people bet on the date of October 5. The first concerns the words of Amazon's CFO, Brian Olsavsky, who said that the event will be held in the last quarter of the year, so between October and December. The second concerns a confidence that Amazon would have made to some customers who operate on the marketplace, namely to consider as a likely time window for the event the first week of October, with the day 5 as a "placeholder date", although not final.
Behind the choice not to further postpone Prime Day 2020, however, there would be the imminent arrival of Black Friday discounts, scheduled for next November 23. Launching the 36-hour event of exclusive discounts for Amazon Prime subscribers after October 12 would create a disadvantageous overlap for sales.
Amazon Prime Day brought forward for iPhone 12?
The release of the new iPhone 12 series would also be, according to several rumors, one of the variables to take into account when choosing the date for Amazon Prime Day 2020. The Seattle-based company is an Apple-authorized reseller, which is almost ready after major delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic to launch its new smartphones.
Although there is no official confirmation yet, the new iPhones would be unveiled between the second and third week of October. Amazon would like to avoid further overlapping and therefore October 5 would be the perfect date. So all that's left to do is wait for the official Amazon Prime Day announcement, which usually comes 15 days before the event, and that could be really close.
