Microsoft has taken the wraps off Project Scorpio. The new Xbox One X is the most powerful console ever made and will launch at a price of 499 euros
One of the most anticipated events of Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017 (E3), the trade show dedicated to video games that takes place every year in Los Angeles, was definitely the one organized by Microsoft. The spotlight was all on Project Scorpio, Microsoft's new console ready to fight the overwhelming power of the PlayStation 4 and that now also has a name: Xbox One X.
From the stage of E3, Microsoft confirmed all the information released in recent months on the technical characteristics of the console and also presented some news, especially in terms of video games. The Xbox One X is the most powerful console ever made so far: a power of 6 TeraFLOPS (or the number of operations it can perform in one second), with 12GB of RAM and native support for 4K resolution. In terms of design, Microsoft has also done a great job: the Xbox One X has very elegant lines, reminiscent of the Slim version of the Xbox One.
The power of exclusives
A power monster like the Xbox One X would be nothing without video games to support it. And Microsoft wanted to make things big by showing about forty video games of which twenty are exclusive (although many only for a short time). The first video game to be presented is Forza Motorsport 7. The video game supports 4K resolution and from the videos shown from the E3 stage features details and environments never seen before. In the plans of Microsoft, the game should also land on computers. Logically, the Xbox One X exclusives do not stop at Forza Motosport, but continue with Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Metro Exodus and Crackdown 3. A final note for two highly anticipated video games shown exclusively during the Microsoft event: Anthem, a sci-fi title developed by BioWare, and Assassin's Creed: Origins, a new chapter in the world's best-selling saga that will take fans of the series to ancient Egypt.
Retrocompatibility Xbox One X
Microsoft wanted to reassure its users and announced that all Xbox One video games will be compatible with the new Xbox One X. In addition, video games released for the first Xbox will also be able to be used on the new Microsoft device, but you'll have to wait a little longer.
Finally, the Redmond-based company has assured that 30 video games from the past will be repurposed to support 4K resolution. The update will be free and available to all users who had purchased the video game.
Price and release date Xbox One X
The Xbox One X will be available worldwide from November 7 at a recommended price of 499 euros. A choice, that of the price, which has left users unsatisfied, but with the technical features that the console offers, it was almost inevitable that the cost was quite high.
