Netflix has made the date official: we'll soon see Omar Sy again as the gentleman thief. Here are the details and revelations of the actor.
Netflix has confirmed the arrival of the second part of Lupin. The TV series, which stars Omar Sy as the gentleman thief, debuted on the streaming platform in January 2021. In just a few weeks, it reached a record number of views, becoming one of the channel's most viewed titles.
The story, inspired by Maurice Leblanc's novels, has been revisited by many films, but gained success mainly thanks to the animated series in the 1990s. The Netflix series treated the story in a modern key, thanks to the writing of George Kay and François Uzan and the direction of Louis Leterrier and Marcela Said. The first part consisted of five episodes and introduced the character Assane Diop, a cleaner at the Louvre Museum in Paris, who one day decides to pull off a heist right inside the building, letting himself be inspired by Lupin himself. Of course, things get complicated and Assane will have to rely on his intuition and intelligence. The first part has left many questions hanging, but finally in a few months the audience will be able to find out the evolution of the events because Netflix has announced the arrival of the second part.
Lupin 2: here is the official date revealed by Netflix
The first part of Lupin debuted on Netflix on January 8, 2021. The streaming platform has now revealed that the second part will be released in summer 2021.
In fact, the first season had been divided into two parts, of five episodes each. So, the filming had already been completed for some time. Inizialmente, si pensava che la pandemia rallentasse la pubblicazione, ma la compagnia ha accelerato le tempistiche in modo da assicurare l’uscita dei nuovi episodi entro l’anno.
Le regia del nuovo capitolo è stata affidata a due professionisti dell’intrattenimento: Ludovic Bernard (che ha già lavorato allo show The Climb) ha diretto gli episodi 6 e 7 mentre Hugo Gélin (Love at second sight) si è occupato degli episodi 8, 9 e 10. Quindi le puntate avranno tratti stilistici leggermente differenti. Ma niente paura: il cast al completo ritornerà.

Lupin in un’intervista con Netflix, in occasione dell’annuncio dell’uscita della seconda parte ha parlato e raccontato il suo personaggio. Lo ha descritto come carismatico e intelligente, un mago del travestimento e dell’invisibilità. Nella seconda parte questi aspetti, che ruotano principalmente attorno al personaggio interpretato da Omar Sy, rimarranno e renderanno lo show ancora più avvincente.
