MyEye is a device that makes normal glasses smart and helps the visually impaired to "look" at the world
Barcelona and Argentine national team champion Leo Messi marries the cause of the blind and becomes an ambassador for MyEye, the smart device produced by Israeli company OrCam founded in 2010 by the two fathers of Mobileye, an Intel Group company and a leader in the autonomous driving sector.
Messi agreed to take on the role of ambassador of these devices after seeing how they work and how they can help, concretely and every day, the visually impaired and the blind. MyEye, in fact, is a device that, thanks to a camera and artificial intelligence, can help those with vision problems to perform tasks that would otherwise be impossible, such as counting money or reading a newspaper. Other sports stars have also decided to take part in OrCam's project and take this device around the world, so that more people who might need it know about it.
MyEye: how it works
MyEye is a small device, little bigger than a USB stick, which is attached to the temple of a normal pair of glasses, transforming them into smart glasses with specific functions for the visually impaired. The frontal camera with which MyEye is equipped has a field of vision similar to that which the eyes of a visually impaired person should have. Thanks to artificial intelligence, MyEye can identify text and read it aloud, so that the visually impaired person can virtually read their surroundings.
In addition to printed text, on any surface, MyEye also recognizes street signs, banknotes, a computer or smartphone screen, a restaurant menu. Ma fa anche di più: riconosce volti delle persone e prodotti di largo consumo e può distinguere i colori. Il tutto in soli 22 grammi e mezzo di peso.

OrCam organizzerà per questo degli incontri tra le star del calcio e decine di persone con disabilità visive, affinché possano conoscere questo dispositivo che molto potrebbe fare per renderli più indipendenti nella vita quotidiana.
