Not only WhatsApp down and Instagram down. Italian phone operators also seem to be having line problems. Here's what we know so far
If at this very moment you're wondering why WhatsApp won't let me send messages or why the Instagram feed won't update, the answer is simple: WhatsApp and Instagram, as well as Facebook, are down and the profiles of Italian users are unreachable. But this is not the only bad news of this Sunday, April 14. Even the major telephone operators in our country do not work.
Looking at the data of downdetector.it we find that, in addition to the services of Mark Zuckerberg's company, TIM is down, Vodafone is down, Three is down, Wind is down and Fastweb is down. Browsing through the reports of Italian users, it turns out that almost no one can surf the Internet, update social profiles or send messages on WhatsApp (while there are no problems for Telegram and Twitter). In short, a sort of general Caporetto for the Italian web, even if it is not excluded that it could be a concause.
The phone doesn't work on April 14, what we know
Studying the reports, both on the web and on Twitter, in fact, it turns out that the problem would not directly affect the networks of Italian telephone operators. The various TIM, Vodafone, Three, Wind and Fastweb would not work for the simple reason that users try to send messages on WhatsApp or post a photo on Instagram (the most used apps, in short). Since the Facebook services are not working, many believe that their cell phone is not working and send a fault report.
This, however, is only one side of the coin. Many users, in fact, are reporting problems with both the fixed and mobile networks of TIM, Vodafone, Wind and Three: most are unable to surf on Wi-Fi or mobile data, while some are reporting problems with calls as well.
At the moment, none of the operators have issued a statement regarding the possible malfunction: it is certain that technicians are verifying what is happening and it is not to be excluded that already in the next few minutes the down that has affected TIM, Vodafone, Three, Wind and Fastweb may be restored.
