When will the new PlayStation be released on the market

There are many doubts about the release date of the PlayStation 5. According to some analysts it will have to wait until 2021, while for others the release would be imminent

Many fans are already waiting for it. Many analysts make assumptions about its likely release. But the only thing that is certain is that no one, not even at Sony, knows the official date when it will be presented. What are we talking about? The PlayStation 5, the console of the future that Sony is working on.

With the release of the Xbox One X, the PlayStation has lost some of its appeal. It's no longer the most powerful console on the market, and even the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro hasn't lifted sales. Sony has experienced a rather difficult 2018 as far as the video game department is concerned: console sales have declined and the gaming sector has scored a -14%. According to some analysts, these data would have convinced Sony to launch the PlayStation 5 by mid-2020, anticipating the initial forecasts that set the release of the console in mid-2021. But these are simple assumptions.

When will the PlayStation 5 be released

To get a clearer picture on the date of release of the PlayStation 5 we can analyze the predictions of some analysts always very informed about the world of Sony and consoles.

The last prediction in chronological order is of Yasuo Imanaka, financial expert of Rakuten Securities Economic Research Institute, according to which the PlayStation 5 will not be released before the beginning of fiscal year 2021. Thus, it is conceivable that the console will be unveiled between April 2021 and March 2022. By reasoning, the console should be presented in the summer of 2021 (perhaps during E3, the most important video game fair held every year in June), and then be launched on the market just before Christmas.

According to Amir Anvarzadeh, a highly regarded analyst on the web, the release of the PlayStation 5 would be "imminent". The reason is very simple: the financial results of Sony's gaming division force the company to act as soon as possible to boost sales. The console could be presented already during the next PlayStation Experience, an event organized by Sony to present new games. The console should arrive on the market by the end of 2019 or at the latest in the first months of 2020.

Finally, according to analyst Hideki Yasuda, belonging to the Ace Research Institute group, the PlayStation 5 will hit the shelves by the end of 2020. The presentation will take place around mid-2020 and the console will be available between September and October.
