Iliad's Mobile Config app is available again on the Google Play Store. Here's what it's for and how to download it
Iliad's Mobile Config app, one of the phone operator's three official apps on the online store dedicated to Android users, is once again available on the Google Play Store. Its absence lasted only a few weeks, just enough time to update it and make it more performant. The app was taken down almost by surprise without any notice and the reasons were not very clear.
Mobile Config, as you can guess from the name, is the Iliad application that helps you configure your SIM card on your smartphone by automatically entering the right parameters for online browsing (APN) and for sending and receiving MMS. You can also do it manually, but with the application the process is faster and above all automatic. As is normal, the Mobile Config app is free and can be downloaded to any Android smartphone. The app has never been available for iPhone users who have to do the configuration manually.
The official Iliad apps: what are they
The question of official Iliad apps has always created debate. Since the operator's launch, Iliad has never wanted to make an app to allow users to manage their offer and check their minutes, SMS and giga counters. La spiegazione è molto semplice: tramite l’area privata accessibile da browser è possibile fare le stesse operazioni, anche utilizzando lo smartphone.
Le app ufficiali di Iliad sono tre: Mobile Config di cui abbiamo già parlato; Portabilità Seriale SIM che permette di copiare facilmente il numero seriale ICCID della scheda SIM, fondamentale per effettuare la portabilità del proprio numero di telefono; Segreteria Visiva Iliad per accedere ai messaggi vocali lasciati nella segreteria telefonica.
Tutte e tre le applicazioni sono gratuite e possono essere scaricate facilmente sul proprio smartphone.
Come configurare manualmente scheda Iliad su iPhone e Android
Se non si vuole utilizzare l’app Mobile Config per configurare la scheda SIM, lo si può fare anche manualmente accedendo alle impostazioni dello smartphone.
La procedura sugli smartphone Android cambia a seconda del modello, ma in linea di massima bisogna entrare nella sezione Rete Mobile e poi premere su Dati Mobile/Connessione dati e compilare i campi con queste informazioni:
- APN: iliad
- Nome Utente: vuoto
- Password: vuoto
- MMSC: http://mms.iliad.it
- MCC: lascia il valore predefinito o iscrisci 222 o 208
- MNC: lascia il valore predefinito o iscrisci 50 o 15.
Sugli smartphone Apple la configurazione avviene solamente manualmente. Per prima cosa bisogna premere sull’icona Impostazioni, poi su Cellulare e attivare il flag presente si fianco a Dati Cellulare. A questo punto bisogna cliccare su Opzioni dati cellulare e verificare che di fianco alla dicitura “Voce e dati" sia presente “LTE". A questo punto si può configurare la scheda SIM accedendo alla sezione “Rete dati cellulare" inserendo queste informazioni:
- APN: iliad
- Nome Utente: vuoto
- Password: vuoto
- MMSC: http://mms.iliad.it
- MCC: lascia il valore predefinito o inscerisci 222 o 208
- MNC: lascia il valore predefinito o inscerisci 50 o 15
- Dimensione massima MMS: 200.000
